Pommard 1997

Pommard 1997

Pommard is one of the most renowned appellations of Burgundy. This magical name has been a synonym of fine wine since the Middle-ages. Pommard is a wine from the Côte de Beaune, where the vines used to be possessions of the Dukes of Burgundy. The well-drained soils, composed of clay-limestone are perfect for the Pinot Noir.

100% Pinot Noir

Manual harvest with grape sorting before the vinification and full destemming. Fermentation in stainless steel vats and maturation in oak barrel for 15 to 18 months, including 30% of new barrels.

Deep and brilliant ruby red colour. Complex aromas of small fruits (blackberry, redcurrant, blueberry, prune) combined with scents of chocolate, pepper and leather when matured. Rich in the mouth, powerful yet delicate structure and elegant tannins, this wine is as classy as one can expect from this appellation.

Pairs well with strong flavored meats like game, lamb, roasted beef. It is also great with delicate poultries, or grilled red meats, and of course, cheeses of character.

Wine to be served at 16°C / 60° F. This wine will benefit from an ageing of 10 to 20 years.
